About Mary-Sarah

With more than thirteen years of experience in political communications and public and governmental relations, Mary-Sarah has worked with Members of Congress, Governors and their staffs, chief executives, members of corporate and non-profit boards of directors and local, regional and national media to pitch and secure media coverage on a wide variety of topics.

Mary-Sarah began her career in Washington, D.C., at the National Republican Congressional Committee (NRCC). From 2004 to 2005, Mary-Sarah worked her way up from communications assistant to deputy press secretary for policy, and served as a liaison to House Republican Leadership staff. During the 2006 election cycle, Mary-Sarah served as press secretary at the National Republican Senatorial Committee.

Following two political cycles, Mary-Sarah served as deputy press secretary on the minority staff of the U.S. Senate Committee on Veterans’ Affairs, chaired by Senator Richard Burr (R-NC).

In November of 2009, Mary-Sarah joined then-gubernatorial candidate Brian Sandoval’s campaign for Governor of Nevada as communications director. After the successful campaign, Mary-Sarah joined Governor Sandoval’s office as his press secretary helping craft, implement and communicate the Governor’s positions on issues from education reform to health care and economic development. In February 2013, Mary-Sarah was promoted to communications director where she coordinated with state agency public information officers and managed rapid response messaging for the administration.

In March of 2014, Mary-Sarah joined StudentsFirst, a Sacramento, California-based nationwide education reform organization as deputy national press secretary. From July 2014 through November 2014, Mary-Sarah served as communications director on Neel Kashkari’s campaign for California Governor.

In January 2015, Mary-Sarah joined a Nevada statewide lobbying firm as Vice President of Communications. From July of 2015 to February of 2016, Mary-Sarah was Public Relations Coordinator for the City of Reno, Nevada. In April of 2016, Mary-Sarah began working with a Nevada statewide marketing communications agency as Public Relations Manager. In September 2017, Mary-Sarah launched MSK Strategies.

A native of Lewiston, NY, Mary-Sarah is a proud 2004 graduate of Nazareth College of Rochester. Mary-Sarah has been a resident of Nevada for nearly eight years and can’t imagine living anywhere else.
